When preparing your article, take into consideration that the title is what draws viewers to the site and keeps them there to read the entire piece.  If you find a good title format it is worth using it again but don’t over do.

You will need to be clever and create new titles with each new post and each new article.  Keep track of the article and see where the major search engines list it.  By checking this you can determine the popularity of your article.  Check Google, Yahoo and Bing for search results.

Daily or weekly news topics should cover the entire field of services or products offered by the client.  Educate the viewer and they will return time and time again.  Categorizing the articles is very important.  This will save the viewer precious time as they read your work.  When you check your statistics and find your post or article listed at the top of the heap, it is a good indication that you have found a niche and can continue develop your marketing success and your site will be considered an “authority site.”

When looking at keywords to consider in your articles, try using different words rather than the same ones over and over again.  If you find a lot of folks using a particular key word you might try to use something unique and different to get better ranking.   If you choose key words that are chosen by many different article writers, you may find that the competition is more fierce.  Try something new.

Make a list of the keywords which would most likely be used by the others looking for your service or product and use those when creating new articles.  Watch the statistics and the rest is history as you learn new methods in article marketing for the web.   …..just write something and enjoy the journey.

We had a great Search Engine Optimization meeting on Saturday.  Our speaker, Stephan Barrett, our strategic partner with Rise Creative Group kept everyone on their toes.  His presentation regarding branding and how social media has impacted our industry over the past two years was received with rave reviews.  Attending were clients from around the Central Florida area who were looking to improve their websites.  We have had such a great response that we are scheduled for two more events.  Our speaker next month will be Freelance Writer, Shelly Gerig.  She is sure to offer our attendees a look into professional writing skills.

Blogging and writing has earned a special place in the last two years in our industry.  Technical ability and programming excellence is of course still very important.  However, all clients are tasked now with keeping their blog posts fresh and new.

A client must now hire a professional writer if he or she is not willing to take the time necessary to develop the site themselves. For those clients that cannot afford professional writers, it is important for them to spend the time to develop their writing skills to compete with sites that have a professional writing staff. We are providing a class each month to offer these clients a glimpse of good writing methods and an opportunity to learn what search engines are looking for.  Our suggestion to our clients is this…. Just get started by writing something.

As you feel more comfortable with writing,  raise the bar by looking for topics which will rock your world of expertise.  Become an authority site.  Educate your viewers and they will come back over and over again to learn more.

Another subject which was discussed at our SEO meeting was the phenomenon of  uploading social video to our websites.  By developing an interesting video about our company services and  distributing it on YouTube and other social networks is another way that companies can gain a competitive advantage over the competition

Mobile marketing is another way to reach your readers.  Mobile websites are just the ticket now to reach viewers on the go.  Use your QR (Quick Response Code) on your randing material.  Offer your customers a great deal. Suggest a savings on a service you normally offer or come up with a great giveaway plan to entice viewers to keep coming back.

If you have email marketing such as Constant Contact or Campaign Monitor software available be sure to ask your viewers to subscribe to your newsletter or email campaign.  Create killer newsletters at least once a month if possible and develop your subscriber list going forward. Set up an expiration date of a week to 10 days and watch the interest rise.  Staying in touch with previous clients and those asking for inquiries through your website will produce results if you continue with good communication without overloading them.  Once a month or even once a quarter may be enough to generate interest.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our viewers out there.   Love is definitely in the air and this year is shaping up to be a great business year for all of us in the multi-media industry.  Follow the tips below to increase your bottom line this year and remember to “blog …blog …blog.”

Limit Your Advertising – If you have a hodgepodge or cluttering of advertising on your site, this can decrease your ranking. Google considers excess advertising to be a sign of a low-quality spam site. And remember, Google’s goal is to provide the highest quality sites at the top of the search results

Relevant and Quality Content – One of the most important things to do for better SEO is to provide quality content with relevant keywords. Quality is always more effective than quantity so don’t plaster a ton of low-quality articles on your site just to have content. Make sure the articles you choose are relevant to your site and provide helpful information. If you have some of the same articles as another site, the most relevant quality site will be higher in the rankings so the duplicate content itself, will not lower your rankings. Also, be sure to add fresh new content on a regular basis.

Become a Blogger – If you haven’t already done so, you need to add a blog to your business website. Blogging is a highly efficient way to raise your ranking in Google because a blog does two things. First, it can add many pages of keyword-rich, relevant, quality content to your site which will be noticed by Google. The more quality pages indexed, the more chances you have to be on page one. And secondly, a blog can increase the amount of quality inbound links to your site.

Relevant Inbound Links – Quality inbound links are a great way to add relevance and importance to your site. Guest posting on high quality blogs is one of the best ways to accomplish this task. Commenting on existing blog comments works well also. Always use keyword rich posts with appropriate sites and use relevant keywords for your links. Google does not value links from article banks as much as they used to so choosing a few quality blogs is better than submitting to countless article sites.

Social Media – As with many facets of internet marketing, social media plays a big part in SEO. Be active on your social sites. Do not let them go stale. Engage in conversations, post new info regularly and involve your visitors.

Keyword Research – Keywords play an important part in SEO, but using the wrong keywords can do more harm than good. Be sure to research keywords to find what search phrases people are using to find your site’s info. Google offers a keyword tool called Google Keyword Tool. This free tool will give you a list of keywords and tell you how often they are used and their competition.

Hidden Text – Hidden text is text displayed on your site but invisible to your visitors. A common way of doing this is to set the font color the same as the background color. The reason for doing this is to add a large number of keywords for the search engines but not make your content seem redundant to your visitors. Do not do this. Google considers this manipulation and it could get your site penalized.

Bad Linking – Reciprocal linking, inbound links, and outgoing links can all be good if you follow the proper procedure. Do not link with any and all sites. Be very selective and only link with sites that are relevant to your site and contain quality content. Stay away from FFA (Free For All) or link farm sites. Check your links regularly to make sure they are not broken. Broken links will catch the attention of Google and other search engines.

Linking to poor quality sites or spam sites is also something you do not want to do. Years ago quantity might have gotten you a boost but now it is all about quality links to relevant sites, NOT quantity.

Sending out weekly or monthly online newsletters or mailings is a great way to solidify the trust relationship and build your credibility.  Attract new customers and improive your residual earnings through email marketing.

Example:
If you’re a photographer and you’ve just shot a wedding there is a chance the wedding client found you from your website ….you can tap into future needs by offering photography to their friends and family. Offer a first anniversary portrait, a new baby album of photos, etc.

Your residual income will grow with this client through the years and bring in more clients through your continual contact with the client. This holds true for most businesses, no matter what you’re expertise may be.

As web designers and programmers we understand the potential of residual work. Technology is constantly changing and when a client first builds their site, many bells and whistles are not available. Or, the client may have chosen to forego an element in favor of another due to budget restraints. Mobile sites for instance is something that is normally considered further down the road, as the client lives with their website and wants more visibility and faster download speed for mobile users. You’ve already built trust by providing a service to your current clients. Why not continue to build residual income by offering more as you grow your company and more products or services are available which might be beneficial to your clients?  Free offers and special pricing on goods and services is a popular way to attract new business. As you continue to email your subscribers they will look for specials available and will not be afraid to order from you or request services since they have already purchased something from you.

They may not take advantage of the first offer but if you continue to send information and develop a relationship with your client, when they are ready to purchase, you will (of course) be the first choice.
