What's New with Web Design in 2012?

Jun 7, 2012

Simple is in ….complicated is out. Our designs are all about being uncluttered, clean concept, simple layouts. The use of space and color and adding responsive programming which allows all devices the proper search experience is what we’re all about lately.
Many Smartphones, I-Pads, I-Pods, tablets and the like are asking for more responsive programming to adapt to the different devices. Due to this new criteria, many developers are now offering “responsive design strategy.”
The new responsive design requires coding to conform to the device being used by the viewer. Although adding this additional “responsive programming” will require more programming fees, it is necessary to stay current with the ever changing technology.
A mobile ready site is fast becoming the norm. Mobile sites which are minimalistic but at the same time allow the viewer to visit the normal site is the way to go.
The option to visit your larger site with all of the bells and whistles is needed along with the mobile design to cover all bases. As Smartphones become more popular we are seeing that more users are choosing to use these devices as opposed to the user’s personal computer to surf the web. This is another reason to consider Mobile and Responsive Design.
All white design strategy seems to be wavering in favor of the use of brighter colors and shade contrast within the color ranges.
When we are talking about getting your message heard loud and clear there is nothing better than the use of color. It is, as we have learned in the past “a silent sales person” waiting to bring about the clear understanding using the beautiful backdrop of color.
The use of “Flash Animation” has been greatly diminished with the invent of the new Apple devices. Adobe and Microsoft have a licensing issue and the “Flash” users content and images are not able to be viewed properly on Apple devices. Additionally, search engines to this point have not been able to scan the Flash site for organic content (another blow for Flash design). Hopefully, this issue will be settled. Until then however, we are encouraging our clients to consider other methods. We suggest that JQuery would be an option for a more dramatic presentation. Some of our associates feel this may be the end of “Flash” as we have known it. The future will tell the tale. Many Flash Designers are now offering only jQuery in the place of Flash.
The use of larger images and higher resolution are now more popular than ever with better optimization being available as well as faster download methods. Backgrounds will become more creative and use more color than previously to attract a new crowd of viewers.
