Responsive design and other trends for 2015

Jan 19, 2015

Responsive Design StrategySince almost 1/2 of all americans are using smaller devices to browse for goods and services online, responsive design is now necessary for today’s fast-moving marketplace. Because of this, all new designs are both contemporary and timeless, through smart technology. This new trend will represent the company brand well into the future.  This is the quality our clients have come to expect.
A well-designed, responsive and dynamic site adapts to any platform. This can be a challenge since a web design which looks great on a large computer monitor may be hard to read on a smaller device such as an I-phone. The developers are therefore tasked with optimizing alternative views which will work well on many different platforms, both large and small.

New methods such as the parallax scrolling website:

In the past couple of years, the parallax scrolling method was introduced to site owners. As explained in Wikipedia, this is a special scrolling technique created using computer graphics, making the background images move by the camera slower than the foreground pictures. This give you an illusion of depth.  It was first used to showcase computer games, and is not the best choice for some business sites. Using the parallax feature can become tiresome for some users, losing interest, having to scroll continuously to see imagery and content. Parallax sites appear to be one page which scrolls continuously to the other pages (connected as one long page illusion). The company brand’s visual experience may work best with less scrolling. We do not recommend this method for all site owners. Look for limited scrolling features in 2015, and new and creative navigational methods.

Visual impact builds informed customers:

Recently, we have all seen how popular social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram have become with internet viewers. This knowledge should make all of us aware of the importance of imagery. It is also true, that, visual information can be processed faster than content. This means that well-chosen, appealing images can engage the viewer immediately. They will serve to visually represent your brand and your reputation. These first images will be recalled, thus building return customers, and should be considered a high priority in planning the website layout.
Each image you choose for the site should have some connection to the content you represent. Stay away from overused and generic images. The image should speak visually to introduce your product or service. A compelling image can speak louder than actual words when chosen carefully. Take the time to research and find the perfect image for your company brand.
